Subscription
Every code subscriber is required to agree to the Terms and Conditions for Subscribers and pay an annual subscription of £75+ VAT. During the first year, new Code Subscribers pay their Annual Subscription during the registration process, at which time they are also required to purchase a Code and Brief Guide Starter pack for £30. There are no other compulsory annual fees.
Welcome Visit
A Welcome Visit is available for subscribers who would like to receive a visit from a Compliance Checker in the months following their subscription to the Code. The optional visit provides subscribers with an opportunity to receive advice and practical guidance on the measures they have in place to meet their obligations under the Code. The visit provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about the Code. You can select whether you would like to receive a free Welcome Visit during the registration process.
Compliance Checks
The Compliance Check forms part of the monitoring toolkit that the code administrator uses to assess subscribers compliance with the Code. Each Subscriber will receive an unannounced Compliance Check by an RAC engineer within 24 months of their registration or their previous Compliance Check. A fee of £175 +VAT is payable to cover the cost of each Compliance Visit.
The Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair
Every Subscriber must have copies of the Code available for Consumers to view, upon request. Codes can be purchased from the Code Shop in the Subscriber Area.
The Brief Guide to the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair
Copies of the Brief Guide to the Code of Practice need to be clearly displayed within the customer area of the subscriber's premises and must be freely available for consumers to take away with them. Brief Guides can be purchased from the Code Shop in the Subscriber Area.
Consumer Survey
The Consumer Survey is contained within the Brief Guide. Consumers can complete and return completed surveys to the Code Administrator. The results of the survey will assist ICAP in monitoring individual Subscribers and overall industry performance. The Consumer Survey service is provided free of charge to all Subscribers.
Consumer Advice Line
The Consumer Advice line is free for Consumers to call and is provided at no addition charge to Subscribers.
Consumer Advice Line Fast Track
The Consumer Advice Line Fast Track is provided free of charge to Consumers and Subscribers.
Conciliation and Arbitration
If a case is referred to Conciliation, a Conciliation fee of £175 +VAT per case is payable by the Subscriber.
Should the Consumer wish to refer a case to Arbitration, the Consumer and Subscriber share the cost of Arbitration, £500 +VAT per case, on a sliding scale dependent upon the amount of money claimed.
